Bedtime Stories for Very Young Engineers
Bedtime Stories for Very Young Engineers aims to turn toddlers onto engineering through the power of storytelling.
It’s a movement that makes engineering one of the ideas very young people have for their futures via a medium they already love – bedtime stories. We aim to revolutionise the bedtime story from princesses and dinosaurs to problem-solvers and inventors, and introduce 2- to 5-year-olds to the world of making, improving and maintaining the human-made world around us.
This first-of-its-kind project will give UK engineers the skills, information and raw materials they need to create fun and engaging bedtime stories about engineering. The engineers will record themselves reading the stories for a series of videos made freely available online, and might even get the chance to publish the stories in a children’s book at the end of the project.
We have now recruited a cast of diverse engineers from all corners of the UK who represent the best of engineering, and will be launching the public-facing part of the project in February 2022.
This project is funded by an Ingenious grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering.
